N. H. Bragg & Sons, a distributor of industrial, safety and janitorial supplies in Maine and New Hampshire, has announced the retirement of John W. Bragg effective Nov. 1.
Serving as president, John represents the fifth generation managing the family business started in 1854 by Norris Hubbard Bragg.
Jon Eames, a member of the sixth generation, assumes leadership of the company upon Bragg's retirement. Eames has been with the company for over 30 years and is well known in the industry, both locally and nationally. As president, he will oversee operations in Bangor and Westbrook. He also serves on the board of Affiliated Distributors, a national marketing group with annual sales in excess of $20 billion.
After 46 years with the company, Bragg will serve as chairman of the board and continue to be actively involved in the community. He serves on the board of The Acadia Hospital and Mount Hope Cemetery Corp. He has served on the Bangor City Council and is a past Mayor of Bangor.
Originally opened to serve the blacksmith trade from the shores of the Kenduskeag Stream in downtown Bangor, N. H. Bragg & Sons has evolved over the past 157 years to become a major supplier to industry in Maine and New Hampshire. The company now serves the pulp and paper, heavy construction and boat building industries as well as utilities, schools and manufacturing of all kinds.
N. H. Bragg & Sons employs 63 people, stocks over 30,000 unique inventory items and serves over 3,000 customers in Maine and New Hampshire.
