Pittsburgh-based Lewis-Goetz and Co. is broadening its reach into the western United States with the acquisition of Sacramento, Calif.-based Valley Rubber & Gasket Co.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company is picking up locations throughout central and northern California as well as Seattle, Elko, Nevada, and Salt Lake City.
Valley Rubber is a fabricator and distributor of conveyor belting, hose and sealing products.
"The Valley locations provide an important piece of the geographic puzzle that we have been working hard to find," said Jeff Crane, president and CEO of Lewis-Goetz. "While it's nice to be able to say we finally have a significant West Coast presence, it is much more rewarding to know that we are getting more than just dots on a map; we are getting the very best West Coast platform from which we can continue our organic and acquisition growth strategy."
Les Shively, president and CEO of Valley Rubber, will stay on after the acquisition as region manager for the newly formed West Region.
Earlier this year, Lewis-Goetz acquired EVCO House of Hose in Salt Lake City and Industrial Rubber & Supply in Decatur, Ala.
Lewis-Goetz was the featured distributor in the March/April 2011 cover story of Industrial Supply magazine.
