Illinois Tool Works Inc. reported a total operating revenue increase of 16 percent for the quarter compared to the year-ago period.
Organic or base revenues contributed 8 percent, while acquisitions and currency translation added 5 percent and 3 percent, respectively, to total revenues. A number of worldwide end markets continued to show strong demand levels, especially end markets associated with the company's welding, electronics, test and measurement, industrial packaging and automotive OEM businesses.
On a segment basis, Transportation increased by 24%, while Polymers and Fluids posted a 24% increase; followed by Power Systems and Electronics (+20%); Construction Products (+18%) and Industrial Packaging (+17%).
